Historic and field leaders within the Sudan People\u2019s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), calling themselves the “Initiative for Structural and Organizational Reform,” have accused Abdelaziz Al-Hilu of deviating from the movement\u2019s goals and principles. They claimed he has centralized power in his own hands, marginalized institutions, and undermined collective decision-making, creating a dictatorial reality that is far removed from the values of democracy, justice, and equality.<\/p>\n
In a statement, the initiative\u2019s leaders said that what is currently happening in the liberated areas\u2014such as silencing dissent, arbitrary arrests, and suppression of freedoms\u2014contradicts those founding principles.<\/p>\n
They held the SPLM-N leadership, which is allied with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF\/Janjaweed), fully responsible for the safety of initiative members, particularly in the liberated areas and in the diaspora.<\/p>\n
The leaders also firmly rejected Al-Hilu\u2019s individualistic policies, which they said have weakened and fragmented the movement, affirming their commitment to the core principles upon which the SPLM-N was founded. They called on all members of the movement to unite in order to correct the course.<\/p>\n
