The UN envoy added that reports of extrajudicial executions in Khartoum State were &#8220;extremely troubling.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>At least 542 civilians have been killed in Sudan\u2019s North Darfur State over the past three weeks, but &#8220;the actual death toll is likely much higher,&#8221; T\u00fcrk said in a statement on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the situation in Sudan, where the RSF and the Sudanese army have been engaged in a war for two years, T\u00fcrk noted that \u201cthe deepening tragedy in Sudan knows no bounds.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In recent weeks, RSF fighters have intensified their attacks on El Fasher, the last major city in the Darfur region (west) still under army control.<\/p>\n<p>T\u00fcrk highlighted an RSF attack three days ago on El Fasher and the Abu Shouk camp, which resulted in the deaths of at least 40 civilians.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith this, the confirmed civilian death toll in North Darfur rises to at least 542 over just the past three weeks, although the real toll is likely significantly higher,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He also referred to \u201cthe grim warning issued by the RSF of \u2018bloodshed\u2019 ahead of imminent battles with the Sudanese Armed Forces and affiliated armed movements.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery effort must be made to protect civilians trapped in tragic conditions in El Fasher and its surroundings,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>T\u00fcrk also drew attention to \u201creports of field executions in Khartoum State,\u201d describing them as \u201cdeeply alarming.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cHorrific videos circulating on social media show at least 30 men in civilian clothing being detained and executed by armed men in RSF uniforms in Salha, south of Omdurman.\u201d In a subsequent video, \u201ca field commander from the RSF admitted to the killings,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>T\u00fcrk said these recordings came after \u201cshocking reports in recent weeks of summary executions of dozens of individuals accused of cooperating with the RSF in southern Khartoum, reportedly carried out by the \u2018Al-Baraa Brigade,\u2019 a group affiliated with the Sudanese Armed Forces.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He emphasized that \u201cthe intentional killing of a civilian or anyone no longer directly participating in hostilities constitutes a war crime.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The High Commissioner for Human Rights said he had \u201cpersonally warned RSF and Sudanese Armed Forces leaders about the catastrophic impact of this war on human rights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese devastating consequences are a daily reality for millions of Sudanese.
