Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris affirmed the depth and strength of bilateral relations between Sudan and Egypt in all fields, expressing the government’s interest in everything that would enhance these relations for the benefit of the two brotherly peoples.<\/p>\n
On Thursday, Idris met in his office in Port Sudan with the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Sudan, Hany Salah.<\/p>\n
In press statements, Ambassador Hany said that the meeting discussed the overall situation in the country at all levels. He briefed the Prime Minister on the developments in bilateral relations, particularly with the upcoming meeting of the Joint Trade Committee expected to be held in Cairo in mid-2025. The meeting also addressed the Sudanese-Egyptian Business Forum scheduled for the second half of the year.<\/p>\n
Hany added, \u201cWe also discussed the political consultation mechanism, which last convened in February last year in Cairo. We stressed the importance of holding the (2+2) mechanism, which includes the foreign and irrigation ministers of both countries, as soon as possible in Cairo to discuss issues related to the Nile waters\u2014an existential matter for both countries.\u201d<\/p>\n
The ambassador expressed his country’s hope for the formation of a Sudanese government that would work toward swift reconstruction. He said, \u201cWe trust in Dr. Kamal Idris\u2019s capabilities to manage this file in a manner that takes Sudan\u2019s circumstances into account.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added that Egypt will play a strong role in the reconstruction of what was destroyed by war, noting the Prime Minister\u2019s welcome of this initiative. He confirmed that Egypt was the first country to form a joint working team from both foreign ministries to address reconstruction files.
