\nGargash sends us sweet wishes at a time when his country sends drones to bomb and kill the Sudanese people daily! This comes in the form of a tweet by Mr. Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Advisor to the President of the United Arab Emirates, dated July 25, 2025, in which he says:
\n“Perhaps our message was misunderstood, or simply not heard clearly. So let us be clear: The United Arab Emirates strongly supports an immediate end to the civil war in Sudan.”<\/p>\n

This statement comes just three days before the anticipated meeting of the “Quad” in Washington\u2014a transparent attempt to whitewash the UAE\u2019s record before any international agreement is reached. But who does the Advisor think he\u2019s fooling at the Quad? The United States? Its media has published dozens of reports on the UAE\u2019s role in supporting the militia. Saudi Arabia? It insists on the UAE’s presence in the Quad not as a reward, but to hold it accountable. Egypt? Which knows the situation intimately. Or is Gargash trying to fool the Sudanese people who are being killed daily by weapons shipped from UAE airports?<\/p>\n

\nSo, what exactly is this “message” that was allegedly misunderstood? Is Gargash suggesting that the UAE never supported the war, and that the whole world just got it wrong? Does he intend to deny the UN reports, the photos, the investigations, and even the testimonies of victims? On what planet does this advisor live?<\/p>\n

\nGargash adds: “Let us be clear: the United Arab Emirates strongly supports an immediate end to the civil war in Sudan.”
\nHow? And since when? After the militia was crushed and forced back to Darfur? How does the UAE support ending the war while its weapon-laden planes continue to take off from its airports to Sudan? Review the reports from Yale University, Declan Walsh\u2019s investigations in the New York Times, or just consult your own conscience\u2014if you have one!<\/p>\n

Gargash knows that wars don\u2019t end with deceptive tweets. War will only end if serious pressure is applied on the UAE to halt its military support for the militia, withdraw its operatives from cities, and terminate its political and military involvement. Not one tweet, nor a thousand, will end this war.<\/p>\n

\nThen Gargash claims: “Sudan’s future must lie with an independent, civilian-led government.”
\nHe asserts\u2014rather, claims\u2014in another part of his tweet that “Sudan’s future must lie with an independent, civilian-led government.”
\nWhat business is it of yours what kind of government we have? Independent or colonial, communist or Islamist, military or civilian\u2026 what concern is it of yours? Do any Sudanese interfere in the type of government the Emirati people choose for themselves? Whether it’s hereditary, tribal, or princely? We respect the Emirati people and do not interfere in their system of governance. It is not our role or right to suggest what kind of government they should have; the Emirati people are free to choose as they wish. So why are you interfering in our affairs? Why do you seek to impose\u2014or even suggest\u2014a government model that aligns with your own vision?<\/p>\n

The truth is, you don\u2019t support a civilian government. What you support is a government in the mold of “Tasis” [a UAE-backed initiative]\u2014even if led by Janjaweed generals and perpetrators of genocide, along with fringe elements from armed movements. Or perhaps you support a client government established by “Sumoud” [another UAE-supported platform]\u2026 those are the types of governments you fund and favor.<\/p>\n

Tell me, Mr. Gargash: Would you support a civilian government led by Islamists if it were democratically elected and endorsed by the entire Sudanese population? Or would you continue waging war against it simply because it\u2019s “Ikhwan,” despite being civilian? The truth is, what the UAE supports is not a “civilian government”\u2014but a pliant client regime that serves its interests.<\/p>\n

\nGargash\u2019s contradictory statements convince no one. They are a desperate attempt to mislead regional and international public opinion ahead of the Quad meeting. But noise cannot hide the truth:
\nThose who supported the war cannot be peace brokers.
\nThose who shipped weapons cannot claim neutrality.
\nThose who killed, displaced, and starved people have no right to speak about Sudan\u2019s future.<\/p>\n

\nPerhaps Gargash can deceive those who don’t know the truth. But he won\u2019t fool those who lost their sons to Emirati drone strikes, or those who saw UAVs ripping through El Fasher and Nyala with their own eyes. The war won\u2019t end with tweets\u2014but with a real halt to the UAE\u2019s support for the militia.<\/p>\n

\nA question for Mr. Gargash: Why do you insist on lying when you could have been a respected advisor whose words people might actually believe? Public lies will only make you a laughingstock online\u2014and they already have.<\/p>\n

A Message to the Quad in Washington:
\nDo not be deceived by the advisor\u2019s nonsense. Look at the facts. Do not grant legitimacy to those who funded chaos, assassinated cities, and flooded the country in blood.
\nYour stance on those who fueled and escalated the war will determine Sudan\u2019s future:
\nJustice that saves the country\u2014or a deal that reproduces the disaster.
\nThis is a moral test before it is a political one;
\nWhoever cannot see the truth after all this destruction cannot be entrusted with the future of peace.<\/p>\n
