North Darfur Governor Hafiz Bakhit declared on Sunday that living conditions in El Fasher have collapsed, calling on Sovereignty Council Chairman and Army Commander General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan to end the siege on the city imposed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).<\/p>\n
In a statement, Bakhit said, \u201cThe living situation in El Fasher has become unbearable, as conditions have significantly worsened in recent weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n
He noted that citizens are now relying on ambaz\u2014a byproduct of peanut and sesame oil extraction typically used as animal feed\u2014as a primary food source, and even that is becoming unavailable.<\/p>\n
He revealed that there is an acute shortage and near-total absence of food supplies, alongside skyrocketing prices for available goods.<\/p>\n
According to the Governor, a quarter sack of millet\u2014the city\u2019s main staple\u2014now costs around 500,000 Sudanese pounds and is still scarcely available in markets.<\/p>\n
The supply of millet in Nyfasha Market\u2014the only operating market in El Fasher\u2014has declined drastically, with merchants reporting that less than five sacks were available in recent days.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
