The Public Prosecution announced on Wednesday that it has filed new criminal complaints against 17 leaders of the \u201cTa\u2019sis\u201d (Establishment) coalition, accusing them of committing crimes against civilians in El Fasher, Kadugli, and Dilling.<\/p>\n
Among those named in the charges are: Rapid Support Forces (RSF) commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti), Sudan People\u2019s Liberation Movement\u2013North leader Abdelaziz al-Hilu, Chairman of the Sudan Liberation Movement\u2013Transitional Council El Hadi Idris, and Chairman of the Sudan Liberation Forces Alliance Tahir Hajar.<\/p>\n
According to a statement from the Public Prosecution, three new criminal cases have been opened in relation to violations against civilians in the cities of El Fasher in North Darfur, and Kadugli and Dilling in South Kordofan State.<\/p>\n
The cases were filed based on a report submitted to the National Committee for the Investigation of Crimes and Violations of National and International Humanitarian Law.<\/p>\n
The report cited ongoing attacks by the RSF and their allies\u2014comprising civilians and armed criminal organizations\u2014as well as the intense and repeated shelling of the three cities, the statement said.<\/p>\n
It noted that the bombardments targeted the forced displacement of civilian populations, destruction of civilian infrastructure, and the imposition of a suffocating siege that resulted in starvation and deprivation of basic food, healthcare services, and access to clean water.<\/p>\n
A separate complaint was also filed regarding the accused’s formation of a government and the announcement of a presidential council in South Darfur State\u2014an act described by the prosecution as an attempt to overthrow the constitutional order in the country.<\/p>\n
The cases were filed under articles (21, 22, 25, 26, 50, 51, 58, 62, 65, 186, 187, 188, 190, 191, 192) of the 1991 Sudanese Criminal Code, as amended in 2020.<\/p>\n
These articles pertain to: criminal conspiracy, complicity without conspiracy, assisting in the overthrow of the constitutional order, inciting war against the state, sedition, provoking discontent within the regular armed forces, aiding terrorist and criminal groups, crimes against humanity, genocide, and war crimes.<\/p>\n
