Sudan\u2019s Humanitarian Aid Commissioner, Salwa Adam Beniya, voiced regret over what she described as the international community\u2019s silence on violations and the blockade imposed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on the cities of El-Fasher, Dilling, and Kadugli.<\/p>\n
Speaking during a meeting on Sunday with WFP Deputy Executive Director Guarneri Val\u00e9rie, she reaffirmed the government\u2019s commitment to protecting civilians and delivering aid to all entitled beneficiaries across Sudan.<\/p>\n
Beniya highlighted incidents of looting of humanitarian convoys, including a WFP convoy attacked in Kuma months ago. She emphasized that priority in the coming phase would be given to liberated states, focusing on reconstruction projects such as drilling wells, rehabilitating hospitals, schools, and healthcare facilities, and supporting livelihoods.<\/p>\n
She called for urgent intervention in El-Fasher, Dilling, and Kadugli, stressing that the humanitarian situation there was dire due to the ongoing siege. She urged the UN and its agencies to assume their humanitarian and moral responsibilities.<\/p>\n
Val\u00e9rie, for her part, thanked the Sudanese government for its hospitality and facilitation of visas and movement permits. She reaffirmed WFP\u2019s commitment to delivering aid throughout Sudan and said efforts would intensify to reach the besieged cities.
