Sudan\u2019s Transitional Sovereignty Council Chairman and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, met with a group of Sudanese intellectuals, journalists, academics, and businesspeople in Doha at the Sudanese Embassy.<\/p>\n
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Arab-Islamic Summit recently concluded in the Qatari capital.<\/p>\n
Al-Burhan discussed the overall situation in Sudan amid what he described as a \u201cwar of national dignity\u201d being fought by the Sudanese people alongside their army. He expressed gratitude to the government and people of Qatar, commending Doha\u2019s supportive stance toward Sudan, and affirmed Sudan\u2019s solidarity with Qatar in the face of Israeli aggression.<\/p>\n
He underscored that Sudan is waging a decisive battle for the honor and dignity of its people, pointing to significant victories achieved by the armed forces and allied groups. He said these gains were only possible due to popular support for the army and faith in its ability to defeat the \u201cterrorist Rapid Support Forces militia.\u201d<\/p>\n
Al-Burhan reiterated openness to initiatives to end the war provided they respect Sudan\u2019s sovereignty and unity: \u201cWe cannot mortgage our sovereignty to any state, regardless of our relations with it.\u201d He pledged protection for those who lay down arms, adding: \u201cAny opposition politician who returns to reason will find the political arena welcoming.\u201d<\/p>\n
He vowed that the fight would continue until the siege on El-Fasher, Zalingei, Babnousa, and all areas under militia control is lifted. He praised the armed forces, security services, joint forces, and popular resistance for their sacrifices.
