Sudanese Finance Minister Dr. Jibril Ibrahim affirmed that the return of the Sudan Workers\u2019 Trade Union Federation (SWTUF) and the resumption of its activities through affiliated unions is in the best interest of employees and the state. He welcomed the revival of trade union activities, describing it as an important step, particularly at a time when collective efforts are essential to advancing national work.<\/p>\n
Dr. Jibril made the remarks on Wednesday during a meeting with Dr. Al-Sir Al-Khatim Al-Amin, President of the SWTUF, at the Ministry Complex in Port Sudan.<\/p>\n
The minister stressed the importance of coordination between the National Workers\u2019 Food Basket project and the \u201cSilaati\u201d program, highlighting the role of the Supreme Council for Wages. He revealed that the ministry had fully paid salaries under the 2025 budget, compared to just 60% in previous years due to the war. \u201cWe hope to further improve this in the upcoming budget,\u201d he said, pledging additional support to facilitate the union\u2019s work.<\/p>\n
For his part, Dr. Al-Sir Al-Khatim Al-Amin announced plans for major projects benefiting union members, most notably the resumption of the National Workers\u2019 Food Basket in cooperation with the Workers\u2019 Bank and other partners. He urged the Ministry of Finance to provide funding and called for a review of wages to match current economic realities.<\/p>\n
He emphasized that the revival of the union through its various bodies and the activation of the Supreme Council for Wages would strengthen workers\u2019 stability, ultimately benefiting the state.
