Sudanese army forces, supported by allied and joint units, repelled a major RSF assault on El Fasher on Thursday.<\/p>\n
According to a field report by war correspondent Asia Khalifa, published on the official page of the army spokesperson, the attempted assault\u2014launched from two fronts with infantry and combat vehicles, and accompanied by RSF-affiliated media personnel\u2014was the 245th attack on the city since it came under siege in May 2024.<\/p>\n
The report said the battle began at 4 p.m. with artillery shelling and drone strikes but soon turned into a \u201cmassacre\u201d for the RSF, with hundreds of fighters killed, including several attack leaders. The army destroyed multiple combat vehicles, including two tanks, as well as a transport truck carrying more than 200 fighters. The remaining RSF units fled the battlefield.<\/p>\n
The report highlighted the bravery of El Fasher\u2019s female volunteers, who joined their brothers on the frontlines, bolstering morale with steadfastness and traditional victory ululations.<\/p>\n
