{"id":55439,"date":"2025-10-08T04:25:24","date_gmt":"2025-10-08T01:25:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sudanevents.com\/?p=55439"},"modified":"2025-10-08T04:25:24","modified_gmt":"2025-10-08T01:25:24","slug":"government-human-rights-in-sudan-cannot-be-imposed-from-outside","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sudanevents.com\/index.php\/2025\/10\/08\/government-human-rights-in-sudan-cannot-be-imposed-from-outside\/","title":{"rendered":"Government: Human Rights in Sudan Cannot Be Imposed from Outside"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sudan\u2019s Permanent Representative to the UN Human Rights Council, Ambassador Hassan Hamid, rejected the decision to extend the mandate of the Fact-Finding Mission on Sudan, which was passed by vote on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>In his closing remarks at the Council\u2019s session that adopted the British-sponsored resolution, Ambassador Hamid thanked the countries that voted against the extension and supported Sudan\u2019s position, saying they had voted in defense of the UN Charter and the established principles of state sovereignty and respect for national decisions.<\/p>\n<p>He questioned whether the decision truly served the goal of protecting human rights and achieving justice, asking: \u201cDoes this mean that existing human rights mechanisms in Sudan, including the UN High Commissioner\u2019s country office and the appointed expert, are now ineffective or useless?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added, \u201cIf the answer is no, then mandating an additional mechanism of three individuals through a resolution that equates the rebellious militia with the Sudanese Armed Forces clearly serves as political blackmail and pressure on Sudan \u2014 especially as the army continues to achieve victories over the terrorist militia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hamid further criticized the resolution for failing to name the country that sponsors the militia and supplies it with weapons, equipment, and mercenaries, questioning how such a resolution could contribute to ending the fighting or protecting civilians.<\/p>\n<p>He accused the sponsors of the resolution of shielding the state that supports the militia \u2014 referring to the United Arab Emirates \u2014 despite multiple reports backed by evidence confirming its involvement.<\/p>\n<p>The ambassador affirmed that Sudan remains committed to its people and considers human rights a national priority, not an external mandate imposed by resolutions.
