Sudan\u2019s Sixth Infantry Division in North Darfur announced that it had conducted special military operations in the city of Al-Fashir, successfully seizing several advanced defensive positions.<\/p>\n
In an official statement, the division said its forces had \u201cinflicted heavy losses on the enemy in personnel and equipment, captured fully equipped combat vehicles, and destroyed six others, including armored carriers.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to the statement, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia launched an attack on the city from the southern axis at around 11:00 p.m. on Monday, but the army successfully repelled the assault, inflicting severe casualties.<\/p>\n
The army further stated that the attack involved \u201ca group of mercenaries who had been imprisoned by Hemedti\u2019s forces for murder charges, released, armed, and deployed to fight in Al-Fashir.\u201d Most of them were reportedly killed, while others fled the battlefield.<\/p>\n
