Sudan\u2019s Sovereign Council Chairman, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, is leading his country\u2019s delegation to the Arab\u2013Russian Summit, set to convene in Moscow in mid-October.<\/p>\n
In a statement to Al-Muhaqiq news outlet, Sudan\u2019s Ambassador to Russia, Mohamed Al-Ghazali Al-Tijani, said the upcoming summit is taking place amid complex and challenging circumstances across the Arab region, alongside the ongoing Russian\u2013Ukrainian conflict and the strained relations between Russia and the West.<\/p>\n
He added, \u201cIn light of these geopolitical conditions, both regionally and internationally, the Arab League has an important role to play in fostering dialogue and engagement within a framework of multilateral diplomacy with Russia.\u201d<\/p>\n
Al-Tijani emphasized that Russia is a country of considerable political, diplomatic, and military weight, making an Arab\u2013Russian partnership crucial for maintaining balanced relations, mutual benefits, and contributing to peace and stability. He noted that the joint declaration and action plan expected to be adopted at the summit will likely reflect these objectives.<\/p>\n
The ambassador confirmed that Sudan will participate in the summit with a high-level delegation headed by General Al-Burhan. He stressed that this participation carries special significance given the evolving relations between Khartoum and Moscow.<\/p>\n
\u201cRussia stood by Sudan during the war,\u201d Al-Tijani said, \u201cand was among the first countries to affirm Sudan\u2019s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the importance of preserving state institutions. Moreover, Russia was the first to send a senior official to Sudan after the outbreak of the conflict and used its veto power at the UN Security Council to prevent external interference in Sudan\u2019s internal affairs.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added that numerous high-level visits and exchanges in recent months underscore the strong coordination and mutual support between the two nations, as well as the shared political will to strengthen bilateral ties.<\/p>\n
Al-Tijani described the summit as an important platform to present updates on the Sudanese situation at a major international gathering. He highlighted that the Sudanese Armed Forces and their allied units have achieved significant victories over \u201cterrorist militias,\u201d reaffirming Sudan\u2019s determination to liberate every inch of its territory and restore peace and stability nationwide.<\/p>\n
He revealed that a bilateral meeting between Presidents Al-Burhan and Vladimir Putin will be held on the sidelines of the summit to discuss ways of deepening cooperation between the two countries.<\/p>\n
Recent months, he added, have seen active engagement across multiple sectors, including ministerial-level meetings\u2014such as between Sudan\u2019s Minister of Minerals and Russia\u2019s Minister of Natural Resources in September, and a meeting between Sudan\u2019s Prime Minister and Russia\u2019s Foreign Minister in New York.<\/p>\n
