Sudan\u2019s Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Gibril Ibrahim, reaffirmed his country\u2019s desire to build strategic relations with Russia across all sectors.<\/p>\n
During a meeting held Monday with Russia\u2019s Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, attended by Sudan\u2019s Minister of Energy and Petroleum Eng. Mutasim Ibrahim, Dr. Ibrahim praised Russia\u2019s supportive positions toward Sudan, which he said have contributed to preserving the nation\u2019s sovereignty and territorial integrity.<\/p>\n
He stressed that Sudan places great hopes on Russian investments, noting that they are based on fair mutual benefits that serve the interests of both peoples.<\/p>\n
Dr. Ibrahim commended the outcomes of the Joint Ministerial Committee meetings held at the end of September, describing them as a roadmap for strengthening economic and trade relations between the two countries. He emphasized that with follow-up and implementation of the proposed projects, the committee\u2019s work could play a significant role in reconstruction efforts, particularly in the sectors of industry, transport, infrastructure, energy, and agriculture.<\/p>\n
For his part, Minister of Energy and Petroleum Dr. Mutasim Ibrahim discussed the impact of the ongoing war on Sudan\u2019s energy and oil sector, outlining the scale of the damage, the government\u2019s recovery plan, and its hope for Russia\u2019s substantial role in rebuilding this vital sector. He also referred to meetings held during Russian Energy Week, which included discussions with the Russian Ministry of Energy and several major energy and oil companies.<\/p>\n
Deputy Prime Minister Novak, meanwhile, affirmed Russia\u2019s special interest in Sudan, noting that bilateral relations have witnessed remarkable progress recently, marked by aligned views on regional and international political issues, close coordination, and mutual support in international forums.<\/p>\n
He added that the activation of bilateral cooperation mechanisms demonstrates both sides\u2019 commitment to developing their partnership. Novak said he had made sure all relevant Russian agencies were included in the meeting to achieve tangible and positive outcomes, particularly in the economic field, through the prompt and effective implementation of the joint committee\u2019s recommendations.
