Sudanese Health Minister Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim held bilateral talks in Cairo on Wednesday with his Egyptian counterpart, Professor Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, in the presence of Sudan\u2019s Ambassador to Egypt, Imad al-Din Adawi; Medical Counselor Dr. Khidr Faisal; and Dr. Alaa al-Tayeb Madthar, Director of International Health and Bilateral Relations at the Sudanese Ministry of Health.<\/p>\n
The discussions covered several key health issues, including the \u201cGambia Project\u201d to combat disease vectors in northern Sudan. The technical and administrative procedures have been finalized, and the memorandum of understanding was approved, with expectations that the project will soon resume in the Northern State.<\/p>\n
The two sides also discussed the status of Sudanese fellowship doctors training in Egypt and ways to facilitate their registration and medical practice for training purposes in the next phase.<\/p>\n
Talks further focused on expanding cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector \u2014 particularly in importing and closing medicine supply gaps in Sudan \u2014 by leveraging Egyptian expertise.<\/p>\n
Dr. Haitham praised the role of Sudan\u2019s Medical Office in Egypt for providing treatment to Sudanese patients through the Afia Health Insurance Program, which has covered a large number of patients and streamlined their medical procedures. He also highlighted the bilateral protocol between Egypt and Sudan supporting patient care.<\/p>\n
The meeting reviewed the tripartite project involving Sudan, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia\u2019s King Salman Center, aimed at improving kidney failure treatment services \u2014 including dialysis and kidney transplants \u2014 and providing additional support to Sudanese patients residing in Egypt.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
