During a plenary session of the French Parliament, one MP delivered a powerful address warning of escalating crimes against civilians in Darfur, describing events in Sudan as an \u201congoing genocide by bullets\u201d since the fall of El Fasher to the RSF (Janjaweed).<\/p>\n
The lawmaker said Sudan faces a major humanitarian catastrophe, with civilians enduring killings, rapes, and mass displacement. He noted that videos and images of atrocities are being posted by perpetrators themselves, depicting a \u201chuman safari\u201d of field executions and celebratory violence.<\/p>\n
He cited figures of over 150,000 killed since April 2023, 16 million displaced, and widespread famine, including the killing of around 500 civilians inside El Fasher\u2019s maternity hospital days earlier, and reports of refugees in Gouroum camp forced to pay ransom for detained relatives.<\/p>\n
The MP condemned the silence of European capitals over the United Arab Emirates\u2019 role in arming the RSF, calling it \u201can unacceptable complicity,\u201d and criticized global media indifference to Sudan\u2019s suffering.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery life is precious. Ignoring Africa\u2019s victims is a denial of our shared humanity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He urged the French government to take concrete steps, including:<\/p>\n
Protecting civilians fleeing to Tawila after the El Fasher massacre,<\/p>\n
Supporting safe humanitarian corridors,<\/p>\n
Pressuring partners \u2014 especially the UAE \u2014 to halt arms supplies to the RSF, and<\/p>\n
Working to end the fighting and launch a political peace process in Sudan.<\/p>\n
He concluded his remarks with a quote from Archbishop Desmond Tutu: \u201cPlease, recognize that we are human too.\u201d<\/p>\n
