The Sudanese Embassy in Ankara organized an important economic meeting bringing together the Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, Counselor Mohamed Nour Abdel Daim, and leaders of the Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB), with the attendance of Sudan\u2019s Ambassador to Ankara, Turkish officials, and private sector representatives.<\/p>\n
Turkish union officials expressed appreciation for the historic ties between Sudan and Turkey and reaffirmed their readiness to strengthen economic and trade cooperation during the upcoming reconstruction phase.<\/p>\n
The Minister of State thanked the Union for its warm reception and the Sudanese Embassy for organizing the meeting, conveying condolences from the Sudanese government and people over the recent Turkish military plane crash.<\/p>\n
He emphasized the deep historical and human bonds between the two nations and highlighted that relations have seen remarkable progress in recent years, describing Turkey as a strategic partner in Sudan\u2019s recovery and reconstruction efforts.<\/p>\n
The Minister provided an update on the post-war situation in Sudan, detailing infrastructure destruction\u2014especially in Khartoum\u2014mass displacement, and the shift from humanitarian relief to reconstruction and resettlement.
\nHe presented priority investment opportunities in bridge and road rehabilitation, electricity and water networks, waste-to-energy projects, establishment of new industrial zones, and plans for a solar component manufacturing plant and a modern gold refinery in partnership with Turkey.<\/p>\n
He also discussed the resumption of Ziraat Bank\u2019s branch operations in Port Sudan, calling for enhanced banking and financial cooperation to facilitate trade and investment and to restructure existing debts toward development projects.<\/p>\n
TOBB officials commended the briefing and described Sudan as a promising destination with vast natural and human resources and a strategic position offering access to African markets through COMESA agreements.
\nThey expressed readiness to host sectoral meetings and dedicate a \u201cSudan Day\u201d at TOBB headquarters to showcase key projects and attract Turkish investors.<\/p>\n
