Sudan\u2019s Permanent Representative in Geneva, Ambassador Hassan Hamid, said the Human Rights Council\u2019s special session on the events in El Fasher revealed a clear international consensus condemning what he called \u201cthe terrorist militia and its sponsor, the UAE.\u201d<\/p>\n
In a statement before the Council on Friday, Hamid said Khartoum had repeatedly warned since the outbreak of the RSF \u201cterrorist rebellion\u201d that the Council\u2019s approach of equating the renegade militia with the Sudanese Armed Forces\u2014whose constitutional duty is to protect the nation\u2014was a grave mistake. Failure to take punitive measures against the militia\u2019s sponsor, the UAE, which he said continues to supply advanced weaponry, equipment, and foreign fighters \u201cfrom across the seas,\u201d gave the RSF a green light to commit unprecedented atrocities.<\/p>\n
Responding to the UAE representative, who denied any role in the war and claimed his country was supporting humanitarian operations in El Fasher, Hamid said: \u201cThe Sudanese people are too proud to accept food from hands stained with the blood of innocents.\u201d He advised the Emirati delegate: \u201cWash your hands of the blood of the Sudanese people first\u2014before speaking about human rights.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hamid stressed that the UAE\u2019s role in fueling the war and supporting the RSF is now \u201cbeyond dispute,\u201d noting that global public opinion had spoken, and that worldwide protests condemning RSF atrocities in El Fasher were directed first and foremost at Emirati embassies before any other institutions.<\/p>\n
He said that after Friday\u2019s session and the statements of numerous countries and international organizations explicitly condemning the UAE\u2019s involvement, UN bodies are now obligated to hold Abu Dhabi fully accountable.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
