The Sudanese Embassy in Washington has officially notified the U.S. government of the Sudanese government’s gratitude and appreciation for President Donald Trump\u2019s pledge to exert efforts to address the situation in Sudan.
\nThe embassy also conveyed Khartoum\u2019s welcome of the efforts by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States to help achieve peace in Sudan.
\nSudan\u2019s Ambassador to Washington, Mohammed Abdullah Idris, expressed the government\u2019s thanks to both Washington and Riyadh for their concern and continuous efforts to stop the bloodshed in Sudan.
\nAmbassador Idris told Al-Muhaqiq news outlet on Thursday that he affirmed to the U.S. administration the Sudanese government’s commitment and readiness to work with both countries to achieve the peace that the Sudanese people await and aspire to.
\nHe emphasized that the Sudanese mission in Washington will continue engaging with the U.S. administration\u2014both the executive and legislative branches\u2014to take practical steps toward implementing the commitments made.
\nU.S. President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday evening his intention to intervene immediately to end the war in Sudan, following a request from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
\nTrump, who hosted the Crown Prince in Washington, stated: \u201cThe Saudi Crown Prince asked me to intervene to resolve the crisis in Sudan, and I will do that. Thirty minutes after Mohammed bin Salman\u2019s request, I began working on resolving Sudan\u2019s crisis.\u201d
