Legendary footballer Steven Gerrard believes that star Mohamed Salah is the only player capable of rescuing Liverpool from their current crisis, unlike former legends who launched heavy criticism at the Egyptian striker after the team\u2019s 4-1 loss to Dutch side PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday in the UEFA Champions League.
\nJamie Carragher, Graeme Souness, and Dietmar Hamann criticized Salah following Liverpool\u2019s three consecutive defeats in the Premier League and Champions League.
\nGerrard said in remarks to TNT after Liverpool\u2019s heavy loss to the Dutch visitors: \u201cWhat is the alternative if Salah is excluded? Is it giving a chance to Chiesa? I think that sends the wrong message to everyone.\u201d
\nHe added: \u201cLiverpool is going through a very difficult period, and Salah is the only player who can pull them out of this predicament. He is a great player and a symbol of the team, and regardless of who the manager is, he will choose Mohamed to start every match.\u201d
