Deputy Chairman of the Sovereignty Council Malik Agar met on Thursday with the UK Special Envoy to Sudan, Richard Crowder, whose visit aims to consult on the political and humanitarian situation in the country.<\/p>\n
Agar began by honoring the victims of El Fasher, killed by the RSF, noting the shock felt by the public over the horrific violations committed by the rebel militia.<\/p>\n
He welcomed Crowder\u2019s visit, explaining that he briefed him on the humanitarian situation and the destruction inflicted on service and development facilities by the \u201cterrorist militia.\u201d<\/p>\n
Agar said he conveyed to the envoy the Sudanese people\u2019s anger at the global silence in the face of ongoing abuses against civilians.<\/p>\n
He emphasized that all crimes committed by the militia are carried out under shifting pretexts \u2014 claiming to fight for democracy, or claiming to fight Islamists, or invoking the narrative of \u201cthe state of \u201956\u201d \u2014 describing these justifications as falsehoods aimed at enabling a new occupation of Sudan. Such contradictory slogans, he said, reflect the militia\u2019s lack of any coherent future vision.<\/p>\n
Agar said the envoy\u2019s visit should have included the UK\u2019s own proposal to end the war, rather than merely gathering the Sudanese government\u2019s perspective, especially since RSF atrocities \u201care being broadcast on every screen in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n
He expressed thanks for the visit but said he asked Crowder to convey Sudan\u2019s messages to Western diplomats, reaffirming the government\u2019s commitment to a peace that preserves Sudan\u2019s unity and sovereignty.<\/p>\n
