Egypt\u2019s Assistant Foreign Minister and envoy for Sudan, Ambassador Yasser Sorour, reaffirmed Cairo\u2019s commitment to Sudan\u2019s unity, stability, and the preservation of its state institutions.<\/p>\n
Speaking at a consultative meeting organized by the Electronic Press Association and attended by Sudanese journalists at the ministry\u2019s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, Sorour said Egypt supports a humanitarian truce and a ceasefire to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people and ensure the delivery of aid.<\/p>\n
He noted that Egypt had chosen to take part in most initiatives concerning Sudan and to support efforts aimed at resolving the crisis and fostering Sudanese consensus, based on the deep historical ties between the two countries.<\/p>\n
Sorour reiterated that Cairo backs initiatives that safeguard Sudan\u2019s state institutions, saying that Egypt\u2019s national security is directly linked to Sudan\u2019s stability, which is crucial for both countries and the region.<\/p>\n
He added that positive steps are underway to lift Sudan\u2019s suspension from the African Union.<\/p>\n
