{"id":59043,"date":"2025-12-23T03:18:17","date_gmt":"2025-12-23T00:18:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sudanevents.com\/?p=59043"},"modified":"2025-12-23T03:18:17","modified_gmt":"2025-12-23T00:18:17","slug":"over-107000-people-displaced-from-al-fashir","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sudanevents.com\/index.php\/2025\/12\/23\/over-107000-people-displaced-from-al-fashir\/","title":{"rendered":"Over 107,000 People Displaced from Al-Fashir"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has reported that more than 107,000 people have been displaced from the city of Al-Fashir and surrounding villages in North Darfur, western Sudan, following the Rapid Support Forces&#8217; (RSF) takeover of the city.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement on Sunday, the IOM estimated that approximately 107,294 individuals were forced to flee Al-Fashir and its surrounding villages due to escalating insecurity between October 26 and December 8, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The majority of the displaced (around 72%) remain within North Darfur, primarily in the northern and western parts of the state. Meanwhile, estimates suggest that 19% of the displaced have reached other Sudanese states, including Central Darfur, Northern State, and White Nile.<\/p>\n<p>According to field teams from the Displacement Matrix Movement, 75% of those displaced since October 26 were already internally displaced persons, including those who had initially fled major camps such as Zamzam and Abu Shouk or locations within Al-Fashir during previous escalations, before being displaced again after October 26, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The statement noted that movement restrictions and insecurity may limit mobility, and displacement patterns could change depending on evolving conditions and security developments.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has reported that more than 107,000 people have been displaced from the city of Al-Fashir and surrounding villages in North Darfur, western Sudan, following the Rapid Support Forces&#8217; (RSF) takeover of the city.
