During the meeting, the ambassador briefed them on the key elements of the government\u2019s peace initiative, noting that since its presentation by Prime Minister Kamel Al-Tayeb Idris, the initiative has been welcomed and endorsed by the UN Secretary-General, the African Union, the League of Arab States, the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region, as well as a number of countries at the bilateral level.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The ambassador expressed the Sudanese government\u2019s appreciation for the valued role played by UNICEF through its country office in Sudan.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>For her part, the Head of UNICEF\u2019s Geneva Office welcomed the initiative, stressing the importance of supporting all efforts aimed at restoring peace amid rising humanitarian needs worldwide and the reluctance of donor countries to finance humanitarian response plans.
