At the outset, the Council received a briefing from the Governor of the Gezira Scheme, Engineer Ibrahim Mustafa, on the overall performance of the project. He stated that 80% of the project\u2019s area was cultivated last year, and that preparations are underway to cultivate 1.2 million feddans this season.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Minister of Culture and Information Khalid Al-Aiser said in a press statement that the Council also received a briefing from the Minister of Federal Governance and Rural Development, Engineer Mohamed Kertkila Saleh, on rural development, as well as the challenges and opportunities to support the vision of scholars and university professors in this regard.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Minister explained that the Council reviewed the efforts of the Ministry of Interior and the Intelligence Service in combating corruption, smuggling, and drugs, highlighting the scale of the threat posed by narcotics and the need to confront this dangerous phenomenon affecting Sudanese society. He noted that the Council stressed the importance of media awareness campaigns to address drug risks, activating regional and international agreements, and enhancing information exchange in this field. He added: \u201cThe drug phenomenon represents another war directed against the Sudanese people.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In the same context, the Minister referred to a number of proposals presented during the meeting by the Minister of Animal Resources and Fisheries, Professor Ahmed Al-Tijani Al-Mansouri, aimed at raising the level of executive performance through the recruitment of qualified competencies under ministerial frameworks.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Council also reviewed the status of electricity supply in the country and ways to address rising demand in light of the destruction caused by the rebel terrorist militia, including increasing transmission capacity, accelerating the lighting of remaining main streets in the national capital, and utilizing renewable and alternative energy sources.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Council heard a briefing from the Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments, Bashir Haroun, on preparations for this year\u2019s Hajj season and efforts to remove all obstacles to ensure the comfort of pilgrims.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Al-Aiser stated that the Council praised the efforts of the Governor of Khartoum in preparing the environment for the state\u2019s return to normalcy and affirmed its support for Khartoum State\u2019s future plans.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The meeting also received a report from the Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Ali Mohamed Ali, on the status of implementing decisions and directives issued by the Council.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Sunday, the Council of Ministers held a meeting in Khartoum chaired by Prime Minister Professor Kamil Idris.
