The meeting was attended in person and virtually by representatives of a number of organizations, partners, and ministry officials.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Chaired by Minister of Health Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, the meeting reviewed the cholera situation in West Kordofan. The minister revealed that cumulative cholera cases in the state had reached 308 as of May 27, including 77 deaths. Ninety-nine patients have recovered, while 32 remain under treatment in stable condition.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The meeting also reviewed ongoing interventions and field challenges, particularly difficulties in accessing affected areas and delivering medical supplies. Participants examined the national Ebola response plan, the preparedness of quarantine facilities at ports and border entry points, urgent medical supply requirements, and mechanisms for strengthening coordination between the ministry, international organizations, and partners.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The minister directed officials to accurately identify the needs required to combat cholera in West Kordofan, find effective means of delivering medicines and medical consumables, and intensify efforts in border states to prevent further spread of the disease. He also stressed the importance of continuing preparedness efforts against Ebola, citing the disease\u2019s high-risk nature.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. Ibrahim praised the role of health-supporting organizations and called for increased assistance to help Sudan confront epidemics.
