{"id":61835,"date":"2026-06-08T20:10:38","date_gmt":"2026-06-08T17:10:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sudanevents.com\/?p=61835"},"modified":"2026-06-08T20:10:38","modified_gmt":"2026-06-08T17:10:38","slug":"great-lakes-organization-delegation-assesses-sudans-economic-situation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sudanevents.com\/index.php\/2026\/06\/08\/great-lakes-organization-delegation-assesses-sudans-economic-situation\/","title":{"rendered":"Great Lakes Organization Delegation Assesses Sudan&#8217;s Economic Situation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, Maki Abdelrahim, received a delegation from the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) on Monday at his office.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The delegation was headed by Mungereza Bunjururi Ham, Director of Human Resources and Finance at the organization, and included Nicola Louren\u00e7o Cleusio Andr\u00e9, financial expert and representative of Angola and the member states group, as well as Zinaria Konzi Ella Belis, the organization&#8217;s Executive Secretary.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The visit aims to assess Sudan&#8217;s economic situation in order to consider the possibility of reducing its annual contribution to the organization, while also exploring ways to strengthen cooperation, support economic reform efforts, and contribute to reconstruction initiatives.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The acting undersecretary emphasized that despite the severe economic impact of the ongoing war, the ministry is making significant efforts to restore economic stability and meet the requirements of the recovery phase. He stressed the importance of conducting an accurate and fair assessment of the current economic conditions.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>For his part, the head of the delegation stated that the visit seeks to coordinate mechanisms of cooperation with relevant authorities in Khartoum in a manner that would help Sudan regain its leading role within the organization.
