The interview addressed developments in the war in Sudan, the violations witnessed in the city of El Fasher, the external support received by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, and the efforts of Sudanese diplomacy to counter schemes aimed at undermining the country’s unity.

Al-Jazouli called on the international community to fulfil its legal and humanitarian responsibilities, work to hold those responsible for committing these atrocities accountable, and ensure that they do not escape justice. He noted that the past year had witnessed one of the most horrific massacres and humanitarian atrocities committed against civilians in El Fasher, following a siege that lasted nearly two years, despite repeated appeals from residents and the issuance of a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for the lifting of the siege.

Regarding external support for the rebel Rapid Support Forces militia, Al-Jazouli stressed that all international reports and media coverage had confirmed that the United Arab Emirates was providing various forms of support and military assistance to the RSF, including drones which, he said, were being launched from Ethiopian territory and continued to target vital facilities and infrastructure, including electricity and water stations. He called on the international community to take measures to halt this support and cut off the militia’s supply channels.

The ambassador explained that, following the failure of its plan to seize power in the country, the rebellion had turned to establishing what is known as the parallel “Tasis” government outside the state’s constitutional framework. He stressed that, thanks to the efforts of Sudanese diplomacy, this entity had failed to secure any international recognition or endorsement. He added that the positions taken by international organisations and the African Union rejecting the formation of parallel governments reflected their commitment to Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, as well as their rejection of any steps that could lead to the country’s fragmentation.

At the conclusion of the interview, the ambassador congratulated the Sudanese Armed Forces on their recent victories along the Kordofan front, commending their efforts and affirming that they would continue their operations aimed at restoring security and stability and extending state sovereignty over the entirety of Sudanese territory.

The Global Africa news channel conducted a televised interview with Ambassador Hamed Al-Jazouli Khalid, Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan in France, marking the first anniversary of the El Fasher massacre.
