{"id":7193,"date":"2023-12-09T12:41:06","date_gmt":"2023-12-09T12:41:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sudanevents.com\/?p=7193"},"modified":"2023-12-09T12:41:06","modified_gmt":"2023-12-09T12:41:06","slug":"jeddahs-fifth-book-fair-1000-worldwide-publishers-participate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sudanevents.com\/index.php\/2023\/12\/09\/jeddahs-fifth-book-fair-1000-worldwide-publishers-participate\/","title":{"rendered":"Jeddah\u2019s Fifth Book Fair :1,000 Worldwide Publishers Participate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jeddah &#8211; Sudan events<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>More than 1,000 local, Arab and international publishing houses are displaying their products at the fifth Jeddah Book Fair launched on Thursday by the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission under the slogan \u201cPorts of Culture.\u201d<br \/>\nThe event, being held at Jeddah Superdome until Dec. 16, includes seminars, panel discussions, poetry readings, and workshops on the publication of comics and Japanese manga.<br \/>\nThe inaugural day begins in the presence of France\u2019s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ludovic Pouille, who is leading a delegation from his country.<br \/>\nPouille told Arab News: \u201cIt is a momentous occasion as the French pavilion is taking part for the first time at the Jeddah fair, and France is the exclusive participant with a dedicated pavilion, making it a tremendous honor and source of immense pleasure for me.\u201d<br \/>\nAccording to Pouille, the French pavilion will have 15,000 titles from the nation\u2019s biggest publishing houses.<\/p>\n<p>During his visit, Pouille had the chance to engage with 12 Saudi students from King Abdulaziz University\u2019s French language department.<br \/>\nFrance\u2019s pavilion offers daily language courses for free.<br \/>\nLarry Lamartiniere, the director of Alliance Francaise in Jeddah, told Arab News: \u201cFrance is very famous for its book culture. We at the Jeddah book fair offer daily courses for kids, teenagers, and adults from 5 to 7 p.m. at the pavilion. It is a chance to learn and explore more about the culture and the language.\u201d<br \/>\nPouille added: \u201cPeople will learn French, read French because, at the end of the day, I\u2019m a true believer in the dialogue of culture, and in the diversity, and what better symbol to diversity than the French pavilion here in the heart of the Jeddah book fair.\u201d<br \/>\nCommenting on the role of reading in society, Pouille said: \u201cI think that books today are more important than ever.<br \/>\nEverybody is on the screen. Everybody is on the phone, taking a book, taking the time to read, .<br \/>\nIt\u2019s absolutely essential. It brings you wisdom. It brings you knowledge, brings you openness. You need to read.
