One is designated for the temple and the second is designated for the public<br \/>\nThe\u00a0Kerma culture\u00a0or\u00a0Kerma kingdom\u00a0was an early civilization centered in\u00a0Kerma, Sudan. It flourished from around 2500 BC to 1500 BC in ancient\u00a0Nubia.<br \/>\nThe Kerma culture was based in the southern part of Nubia, or &#8220;Upper Nubia&#8221; (in parts of present-day northern and central\u00a0Sudan), and later extended its reach northward into Lower Nubia and the border of Egypt.<br \/>\nThe polity seems to have been one of a number of\u00a0Nile Valley\u00a0states during the\u00a0Middle Kingdom of Egypt.<br \/>\nIn the Kingdom of Kerma&#8217;s latest phase, lasting from about 1700 to 1500 BC, it absorbed the Sudanese kingdom of\u00a0Sai\u00a0and became a sizable, populous empire rivaling Egypt.
