{"id":9758,"date":"2023-12-30T19:47:04","date_gmt":"2023-12-30T19:47:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sudanevents.com\/?p=9758"},"modified":"2023-12-30T19:47:04","modified_gmt":"2023-12-30T19:47:04","slug":"fierce-fighting-in-khartoum-and-states","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sudanevents.com\/index.php\/2023\/12\/30\/fierce-fighting-in-khartoum-and-states\/","title":{"rendered":"Fierce Fighting in Khartoum and States"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Agencies &#8211; Sudan Events<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Fierce fighting and battles between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Militia forces are still taking place in Sudanese cities.<br \/>\nThis morning, Khartoum was rocked by huge explosions, the sound of which could be heard from several areas in the Sudanese capital, at a time when confrontations continue between the army and the Rapid Support Forces.<br \/>\nIn the latest developments, Al-Arabiya and Al-Hadath reported that strong explosions occurred this morning, Saturday, around the vicinity of the Army General Command and the central Khartoum area, where both sides used mortar shells and launchers for a number of hours.<br \/>\nViolent artillery shelling targeted several neighborhoods in the vicinity of the camp grounds and the Sports City south of Khartoum. Witnesses said that the two sides exchanged artillery shelling east of Khartoum, as the Rapid Support Forces carried out artillery strikes from their positions in the Arab Market area in the center of the capital towards the headquarters of the General Command, while the army responded with strikes from the command towards the center of Khartoum.<br \/>\nLand confrontations were resumed in the old city of Omdurman this morning, at separate intervals, as heavy gunfire and an exchange of machine-gun fire were heard.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, in the city of Wad Madani, the capital of Gezira State, the army\u2019s warplanes launched intense air strikes on a number of neighborhoods.<br \/>\nThe Rapid Support Forces tightened their control over Gezira State a few days ago, and also took control of four states in the Darfur region in western Sudan out of five states, in addition to their control over large parts of Khartoum and the Kordofan region.<br \/>\nIn Sennar, local residents told Al Arabiya and Al-Hadath that military mobilization operations are being carried out by the Rapid Support Forces to strengthen their positions in the \u201cWest Sukar Sennar area\u201d and the surrounding villages.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Agencies &#8211; Sudan Events Fierce fighting and battles between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Militia forces are still taking place in Sudanese cities.
