DUP Disavows Merghani-RSF Meeting

The Democratic Unionist Party- the original- (DUP), led by Mohammed Osman Al-Merghani, has denounced the use of the party’s name by Ibrahim Al-Merghani during his meeting with the Commander of the rebel Rapid Support militia (RSF) on Tuesday in Addis Ababa.
The Party said in a statement on Tuesday that Ibrahim Al-Merghani’s membership within the party has been frozen and that he represented himself during his meeting with the Commander of the rebel militia, and the party denies its relationship with this meeting.
The party renewed its condemnation of the terrible and continuing violations committed by members of the RSF Militia against the Sudanese citizens and their properties, and the systematic destruction of state institutions.
It affirmed its strong support for the Sudanese Armed Forces and the popular resistance that started in a number of Sudanese states to eliminate the rebel militia.
It is to be noted that Ibrahim Al-Merghani, said on Tuesday that he met the rebel leader, Hemedti, in Addis Ababa and discussed with him ways to stop the war, end the suffering of the Sudanese, reach humanitarian aid, and protect civilians in conflict areas.
