UN Condemns Attack on Humanitarian Aid Convoys in Sudan

UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher renewed the United Nations’ condemnation of the airstrike that struck two trucks carrying humanitarian aid supplies, killing one of the drivers instantly. The UN official stressed that attacking humanitarian relief convoys is “unacceptable … and must stop.”

In a statement posted by Fletcher on his official account on the X platform, he stressed that “targeting and killing colleagues delivering humanitarian assistance in Sudan is unacceptable.” The senior UN official also warned of the need to “stop this.”

On Sunday, the World Food Programme (WFP) issued a statement “strongly condemning” the airstrike that targeted two trucks contracted by the programme to transport its humanitarian food supplies in South Kordofan on Saturday, October 3, 2026. The attack killed one driver and destroyed the convoy’s cargo. However, the WFP refrained from naming the party believed to have carried out the strike on the aid convoy, which took place in an area fully controlled by the Sudanese Armed Forces.
