Safwat explained in an exclusive interview to Sudan Events, which clarified the event, that the video was made in the Library of Alexandria in Egypt: The choir and band are Egyptian, and I am the only Sudanese among them. I performed many Sudanese national songs two years ago during the Independence Day celebration in Cairo.
It was alone at the insistence of Ambassador Dr. Mohamed Saghiroon to the community in Alexandria and added: It was a month’s effort in which we rehearsed Sudanese songs and they memorized them. We presented ten Sudanese songs on stage (Today we raise the banner of our independence). I love the place of my homeland, Sudan, and many of the participating Sudanese national songs were from young university students accompanied by an orchestra (originally east).
On his part , Safwat Al-Jili explained that he did not leave Khartoum throughout the months of the war: I am in Khartoum and have not left it amidst the showers of bullets, cannons, and bombs, and I am trying to produce, under these circumstances, new patriotic songs.
Enthusiastic songs, but the war conditions prevented us from publishing the songs. He pointed out that the artist’s role in society is great and is not limited to singing: We work in feeding and insurance initiatives in the region and we are able to serve the small community in which we are located.
