Frenchman Karim Benzema, Al-Ittihad Jeddah striker, sparked great controversy regarding his future with Al-Ameed during the current season.
Benzema was subjected to severe criticism from Al-Ittihad fans due to his decline in performance, and the shock of the team’s early exit from the Club World Cup, as it was defeated by Al-Ahly of Egypt.
According to soccer magazine, people close to Benzema revealed that he regrets leaving Real Madrid, and that he does not mind returning to the Merengue to play for 6 months until the end of the current season.
The Spanish network indicated that achieving Benzema’s desire is impossible, because the Jeddah Federation will never agree to his departure in the winter.
The Defense Central network noted, “The final word on Benzema’s return to Real Madrid rests with the club president, Florentino Perez, and the Italian coach, Carlo Ancelotti.”
The network explained that the Royal administration believes that the rapid return of the French striker, 6 months after his departure, would be an admission of error in allowing the player to leave last summer.
Benzema’s contract was automatically renewed for an additional year after winning the Ballon d’Or, but Real Madrid’s management agreed to his departure for free before the contract expired.
