Qatar Supports Sudanese Health Sector

The Federal Ministry of Health considers Qatar one of the biggest states supporting Sudan, especially in the health area, this is done by official government organizations or through Non-governmental organizations, led by Qatar Charity, the Red Crescent, and through the Qatar Development Fund, which contributed to the implementation of many projects in Sudan during these circumstances that the country is going through.

The acting Minister for Health, Dr Haitham Muhammad Ibrahim, has pointed out in a meeting in his office today in Port Sudan with the Qatari ambassador, to the partnership between the two sides, especially in the health fields, describing it as strong.

He pointed out to the ministry’s need for more interventions after the recent events in the state of Gezira, and the targeting of health institutions by the Rapid Support militias, and the loss of medicinal stocks for those with chronic diseases (kidney, tumors, heart) in addition to insulin for patients with diabetes and blood diseases.

He noted that the departments that were operating in Gezira have begun work in Kasala State, noting the compatibility with the Qatari organizations, indicating their clear role, calling for participation in the operating cost of the Al-Jikaika Emergency and Injury Hospital, which amounts to 100 thousand dollars.

He said that the Ministry is working to rebuild the health system through projects and rehabilitate health institutions according to a clear plan for the year 2024-2025, in addition to working to strengthen the decentralized health system.

For his part, the Qatari ambassador to Khartoum, Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Sada, promised to continue cooperation with Sudan, represented by the Federal Ministry of Health, and to work to provide urgent needs according to priorities, calling for identifying hospitals that need intervention, in addition to preparing lists of urgently needed medicines.
