Sudan Events – Nahid Oshi
The International Organization for Migration has reported that the number of internally and externally displaced Sudanese has risen to 6,036,176 individuals, representing 1,201,356 families.
It noted that the highest percentages of displaced people are in South Darfur at 12%, East Darfur 11%, the River Nile 11%, Gezira 8%, the White Nile 8%, and North Darfur 8%. They spread in 6,282 locations in all eighteen states of Sudan.
An International Organization for Migration (IOM) field teams reported that the IDPs observed were originally displaced from twelve states. It was reported that the majority (3,681,297), or 61%, were displaced from Khartoum State, followed by South Darfur 15%, North Darfur 8%, Gezira 5%, Central Darfur 4%, West Darfur 3%, East Darfur 1%, and South Kordufan 1%. North Kordufan 1%, West Kordufan 1%, Sinnar 1%, and White Nile 1%.
The IOM reported that an estimated 1,574,135 people crossed the border into neighboring countries.
