Port Sudan: Governor Orders Publication Ban

The acting governor of the Red Sea State, Major General Mustafa Muhammad Nour Mahmoud, has issued an emergency order prohibiting and banning any publication in any media form, means of communication or media outlet, that could undermines or threatens public security in the Red Sea State.
The order announced today, Thursday, reads as stipulated that all persons and entities are prohibited from involvement in publishing or assisting in publishing or promoting by any means of communication or various media any information or issues that undermine or threaten public security, safety and tranquility in the state.
The order also bans the publishing or assisting in publishing or promoting through any means of communication or various media any information, topics or news related to the armed forces or regular forces or any of their members or the state government or any of its various agencies or units without obtaining the information and permission from the relevant parties. It also bans insulting regular forces or entertaining websites that support the rebellion.
The order pointed out that this order applies within the geographical boundaries of the Red Sea State.
It specified that anyone who violates the provisions of this order by committing the act, incitement, assistance, circulation, or publication shall be punished by imprisonment for a period not exceeding five years and a fine of only (2,000,000) two million pounds and that in the event of a repeat of the violation, the penalty will be doubled.
It added that if proven that any means of transportation or other means was used to commit any of the prohibited acts mentioned in this order, the means or equipment shall be confiscated for the benefit of the Ministry of Finance and Manpower in the Red Sea State.
It did not say what spurred the issuance of the order.
