Volcker rescuses from the presidency of UNITAMS in Sudan

Reuters news agency said that the United Nations special envoy to Sudan, Volker Peretz, announced (Wednesday) that he would rescuse from his position,
Volcker addressed the UN Security Council session and gave his briefing after the speech of Sudan’s permanent envoy who left the hall with the Sudanese delegation before Volcker began his speech.
He said that the start of fighting on April 15 could have been avoided if both parties had adhered to what they negotiated in the framework agreement.
Volcker expressed his appreciation and thanks to the civil and political forces and armed movements that signed the framework agreement, which he said adhered to neutrality and did not participate in the war and directed them to protect civilians in Darfur, as he described them.
