Warnings of Loss of Census Data
Sudan Events – Rehab Abdullah
Observers warned of the loss of data for the Central Statistics Authority, after it was damaged by setting fires in the entire census building on 60th Street in Khartoum by the Rapid Support militia.
In their interview with (Sudan Events), the observers attributed their warnings to the fact that the country’s data were originally sent to the statistics center and processed by computers after being collected and then published. They pointed to the cessation of field collection of data on economic rates, such as inflation, which is collected from urban and rural markets in Sudan.
Economists criticized the absence of the statistics agency throughout the war period compared to other institutions that resumed their work in other states, noting that the Central Statistics Agency has 18 statistics offices in the various states and 14 safe states without war, in addition to that it has an independent building in the Red Sea state.
