The Moroccan Football Federation announced today, Monday, the renewal of confidence in Walid Regragui as coach of the Kingdom’s national football team, despite their exclusion from the African Cup of Nations in the round of 16, which is currently being held in Côte d’Ivoire.
This came according to a statement by the Royal Football Federation, following a meeting between Fawzi Lakjaa, the university’s president, and Ragragui.
“The university renews its confidence in Regragui to lead the next stage, giving him all means of support and support in order to achieve the status that national football in general and the national team in particular deserve.” The statement said.
“The stages of preparation for this competition and the accompanying results, which stopped at the quarter-final stage, which created a feeling of regret and heartbreak among all components of Moroccan football,” The meeting reviewed.
“The necessity of continuing to work and making every effort to give the national team and football the status it deserves in order to please the Moroccan fans in the upcoming competitions, most notably the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and preparations for the African Cup of Nations finals that the country will host in the summer of next year.” Lakjaa stressed.
Last Tuesday, Morocco bid farewell to the 34th edition of the African Cup of Nations, currently being held in Côte d’Ivoire.
The “Atlas Lions” lost to the South African national team by two unanswered goals, at the “Laurent Pocot” stadium in the city of San Pedro, in the round of 16 of the tournament.
