The Barcelona administration contacted the Spanish Mikel Arteta, Arsenal coach, to seek his opinion regarding Barcelona’s training next season.
Barca coach Xavi Hernandez announced his official departure from leading the team at the end of the current season.
According to the Spanish network “Relevo”, Arteta is one of the coaches who impresses Joan Laporta, Barcelona’s president, so Deco, the sporting director, places him among the options to lead Barca next season.
The Spanish network pointed out that Barcelona is not ignoring what Arteta is currently offering with Arsenal, especially since he fits the profile that Barca is looking for to replace Xavi.
“Despite Arteta himself’s statement that the news of his association with Barcelona’s training is false, we can confirm that the Barcelona administration contacted those close to the Spanish coach to find out his position, and then contacted the coach himself.” Relevo explained.
Mikel Arteta has a contract with Arsenal until the summer of 2025, and he is having a wonderful season with the Gunners and occupies third place in the Premier League table with 61 points, two points behind leaders Liverpool and one point behind Manchester City, which is in second place.
