Factories resume work in safe states
Sudan Events – Rehab Abdullah
The Secretary-General of the Sudanese Federation of Chambers of Industry, Ashraf Salah Mohamed Nour El-Din, revealed that factories in Khartoum have begun transferring their equipment to other safe states, in order to resume work. He indicated in his interview with (Al-Ahdath) that most factories have transferred their equipment to Gezira State, but the war extension caused them heavy losses, and their equipment was looted. However, it was acknowledged that they were small factories of which production ranged between 20-30%.
Ashraf confirmed that the industrial sector is now considered to have completely stopped working due to the war between the army and the Rapid Support, but he pointed out that there are some small factories located in safe states in the Nile River, Sennar, or Al-Manaqil still operating.
He stressed the importance of resuming factory work to cover part of the local need and reduce imports to reduce the burden on the dollar.
