Sudanese Writers Union mourns Abboush
Sudan Events: Magda Hassan
Sudanese Writers Union mourned yesterday the country’s deceased writer and researcher, Mohamed Awad Abboush. In a statement, the union explained that Sudan Events obtained a copy of it:
It is very difficult for us in the Sudanese Writers Union to mourn for the masses of our people and for the writers, researchers and intellectuals, one of our great cultural symbols.
He is the great writer Mohamed Awad Abboush, who left us for the House of Eternity yesterday in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, after a long journey in Sudanese thought, culture and place with its cultural, social and civilizational dimensions.
In the course of research and exploration for national identity and the national project, the late great man wrote a number of books and a number of scientific papers and research, contributing to enlightenment, empowering critical thought and fighting tyranny. Mohamed Awad Abboush represented an honest mirror of the intellectual who is confident in himself and the resisting awareness he possesses. He was also distinguished by his great perseverance and strict commitment to knowledge and research, with an unparalleled humility.
The dear deceased graduated from the Faculty of Arts, University of Khartoum in the year 1967, and during his career he worked as editor-in-chief of the Sudanese Culture Magazine and then as its editor-in-chief.. in addition to many articles, studies and research.. Published The deceased wrote a book (Between Sennar and Khartoum), a book (Modern Sudan… Searching Through), and a book (A Reading of the Record of Sudanese Culture and Its Elite Discourse).
We should not forget here that he assumed the task of managing the editorship of (Karama) magazine, which is issued by the Sudanese Writers Union.
The deceased was a person of knowledge. Insightful in looking at questions of identity and the history of Sudan and in looking at the positions and roles of the elites.
We in the Sudanese Writers Union, when we mourn him, are expressing our loss and our great loss of one of the writers and researchers who gave the juice of their effort without noise in the service of their country and all of humanity.
May Allah have mercy on the committed writer, researcher, and intellectual, Mohamed Awad Abboush. (We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return).
