Sudan Requests Huge Grant from the World Bank

On Monday, the technical committee responsible for preparing a proposal to obtain a World Bank grant held its second meeting, headed by the Director of the General Department of Health Emergencies and Epidemic Control at the Federal Ministry of Health, Dr. Muntaser Mohammad Osman.
Director of the International Health Regulations Department at the General Department of Health Emergencies and Epidemic Control, Talha Al-Sir, said in a press statement following the meeting, that the meeting of the technical committee is preparatory to prepare the proposal to obtain a World Bank grant related to three basic axes, including surveillance, laboratories, and human resources, to build countries’ capabilities to prepare for and respond to international epidemics and health threats, pointing out that the grant amount is approximately $25 million.
Al-Sir confirmed the preparation of a clear road map to complete the proposal and then the formation of a higher committee headed by the Federal Minister of Health to supervise it and approve it finally before the specified date.
Al-Sir noted that the technical committee includes, in addition to the M. of health, the ministries of livestock, finance, the Supreme Council for the Environment, global health organizations, UNICEF and FAO, with the aim of tightening coordination between the ministries and organizations from the beginning of the preparation stage for writing the proposal and implementation after obtaining the grant.
