Ramadan Drama…The Continuous controversy

Sudan Events – Magda Hassan

Many voices have emerged calling for importance of moderation in the production and presentation of Sudanese drama after the new drama received widespread criticism due to its distance from Sudanese society.
In this context, director and producer Jalal Hamed celebrated the dramatic works being broadcast, pointing out that the core of these works were their productions… and soon, Allah willing, this war will end, and Sudan will return stronger, and we will return to giving opportunities to undiscovered talents, and mixing them with those with rich experiences, so that the wheel of development can move forward. In our drama forward.
He added: “I watched many scenes in different Sudanese production series during Ramadan, and I was very happy with the large number of spaces given to new talents.
I was also happy that our vision of supplying the artistic scene with new faces has produced stars and heroes who have become bearers of the flag now after learning from experienced and former people.” in the field”.
He pointed out that their company’s first Ramadan drama production, through the series (Way of Loss ), was clear, which was to mix people with experience and new faces. Jalal Hamed participated alongside the production in acting and has experience through his company.
He said, “I worked with the director of the work, Haitham Al-Amin, and his hero, Ahmed Al-Jiqir .”
At the head of the newcomers to the experience, and next to us are university youth, Mohamed Abdel Rahman, Mazen, Jaskaba and others, and Nader Abdel Rahman, Jadeka, Owusu, Nisreen Omar, Ruby Kamal, and even the owner of theatrical experiments, Ibrahim Shinto, and many, many names that we bet on to take their first steps in this field and then set out for other spaces after If I came into contact with the late Hani Kaboos, Montaser Abu Jiqa, Roya Naiem, and Balqis Awad,” he added, “In the series (Paths of Return).
we did the same thing, and the banner was carried by Musa Al-Amir, Awad Shakespeare, Mervat Al-Zein, and Al-Kindi Al-Amin, under the management of Imam Hassan Imam, and Abu Dhar Al-Nigiri appeared, and we rediscovered many of those they appeared before, and our vision was continuous and fruitful.
We hope to move Sudanese drama to the place it deserves and to present a respectable and sophisticated art that befits our country and the amount of talent it possesses.”
While Jalal Hamed takes pride in their dramatic experience, journalist critic Mohamed Ibrahim Al-Hajj criticized these dramas, and said, “I do not think that anyone who watched the drama of Al-Hadi Al-Siddiq, Hakim Salman, Awad Siddiq, and Makki Sinada as heroes of the Sudanese drama in Ramadan and their ability to embody, mastery, and charisma can be convinced by Al-Jiqir or Zul Saghil, who lacks all the requirements of a hero in a dramatic work.
He affirmed that it is not possible to convince anyone to the same extent that Sudanese drama has evolved from before with actresses like Monica, Ruby, and Hadeel who replaced great women like Tahia Zarrouk, Souad Al-Dush, Faiza Amseeb, Rabha Mohamed Mahmoud, and others.
He said, “In the past, the actor was creative and convincing .
Now the situation have changed and filling the screen requires a lot of coquetry, display of lewdness, and a lot of immorality during the month of fasting.
You will not convince me that works such as Moons of the Suburbs, Dhabiyya, Doubt, and Strange Twilight Birds have been replaced by (pictorial compilations) of bullying.” Flirting with young girls was slanderously called the development of Sudanese drama.”
Mohamed Ibrahim said that the most successful comedy now is “light comedy,” situation comedy that does not depend on body movements, zigzags, and formations, and does not require making curses or forcefully extracting laughter.
He continued, “Karim Mahmoud Abdel Aziz and Hisham Majed present sophisticated, funny comedy without being rude… and far from the vulgarity of body language… The time of Henedy, Mohamed Saad, and Hani Ramzy has passed, and the time of somersaults and juggling has ended with them… Now comedy is what is found on paper and not in bodies.” Actors, I wish our actors would realize this and maintain their fitness.”
