Ukraine Intends to Open Embassy in Port Sudan

Ambassador Mykola Nahorny has handed over a copy of his credentials as Ambassador of Ukraine to Sudan to Acting Foreign Minister, Hussein Awad.
Nahorny said that his country will open a temporary embassy in Port Sudan during the next few months, and Ambassador Mykola Nahorny and the staff of his diplomatic mission will reside in Cairo, while there is a consul and there is an honorary consul of Ukraine in Sudan.
The ambassador delivered an invitation from Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to Sudan to attend the Ukrainian Global Peace Initiative summit, which will be held next June, as well as an invitation to participate in the Ukrainian Food Initiative.
In early January, 22,000 tons of Ukrainian wheat arrived in Port Sudan as aid to Sudan.
The Ukrainian ambassador held a series of meetings, including a member of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Jaber, and discussed with him aspects of joint cooperation between Ukraine and Sudan in various fields, especially the fields of reconstruction, especially since the two countries are suffering from the scourge of war now and looking forward to building the future.
In a meeting with the governor of the Darfur region, Mini Arko Minawi, the Ukrainian ambassador confirmed the provision of special assistance to Darfur region from the Ukrainian grant, in addition to a meeting with the Deputy Regional Director of the World Food Program in Port Sudan, Khaled Osman, where he discussed the flow and distribution of the Ukrainian grant to the Sudanese people, and he visited the World Food Program warehouses in Port Sudan, in addition to his inspection of one of the shelters for displaced people in the city to determine the flow of Ukrainian flour distribution.
