Maintenance of Al-Daba-Dongola Road, launched

The National Authority for Roads and Bridges, Northern Sector, has revealed the start of maintenance operations for the 150-km-long Al-Daba-Dongola Road, at a cost of 582 million pounds.
Director of the Northern Sector of the National Authority for Roads and Bridges, Abdullah Fatah Al-Rahman Mahjoub, explained that the urgent maintenance in the Al-Daba Dongola sector is 165 kilometers, noting that implementation began from Al-Sahaba village to Al-Salim Bridge and then Merowe.
He added that maintenance aims to cover (70) thousand square meters of potholes, cracks and eroded surfaces on the road through cold asphalt mixtures, in addition to installing three pipe culverts by the company implementing the Northern lifeline.
Abdullah said that the importance of the road comes as it is one of the main gateways for travelers and trade crossing all states, including the states of Kordofan and North Darfur.
For his part, Engineer Abdul Halim Mohammad Al-Sharif from the Northern Lifeline Company said that work began in the Dongola Al-Dabah sector, with a length of 150 km from the Al-Sahaba area at kilometer 450 and from there to the city of Al-Dabah.
Al-Sharif pointed out that the duration of the contract is three months, and he expects that the work will be completed before the specified period.
Meanwhile, Engineer Abdul Ilalah Mohammad Abbas of the National Authority for Roads and Bridges, Northern Sector, confirmed that the work is progressing well from Al-Multaqa City to cover, maintain and patch the potholes.
