Sudan: Inflation Rate Declines

The Central Bureau of Statistics announced that Sudan’s inflation rate decreased by 1.34% in May 2026, reaching 44.50%, compared to 45.84% recorded in April 2026.
In a statement, the bureau said that the annual change in the general price level (inflation) reached 44.50% in May 2026, meaning that prices increased by that percentage compared to the same period in 2025.
The bureau noted that inflation in urban areas fell to 41.11% in May from 49.70% in April, while inflation in rural areas rose to 46.83%, compared to 43.62% in the previous month.
According to the statistics agency, inflation declined in 10 states, with the largest decrease recorded in North Darfur at 58.89%. Inflation increased in seven states, with the highest rise recorded in Khartoum at 19.58%, while it remained stable in West Kordofan State.
