Egyptian President Abdul Fattah El-Sisi and the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, have stressed the necessity of reaching an immediate and sustainable ceasefire in Sudan, and rejected foreign interventions to support any of the parties militarily.
The two sides stressed in a joint statement on the occasion of the visit of the Amir of Kuwait to Egypt, on Tuesday, that any real political solution must be based on a purely Sudanese vision emanating from the Sudanese themselves without dictates or pressure from any external parties, and making decisions that contribute to resolving the crisis and are based on unity and sovereignty of Sudan and to preserve the national institutions of the state and prevent them from collapsing, in consultation with the proposals of effective regional institutions and organizations, most notably the Jeddah Platform, the mechanism of Sudan’s neighboring countries, the African Union and the League of Arab States, in order to preserve the interests and capabilities of the people of Sudan and the peoples of neighboring countries and the security and stability of the region as a whole.
They also stressed the importance of providing support to Sudan’s neighboring countries, as they are the most affected by the consequences of the crisis and have received large numbers of Sudanese since the beginning of the conflict, including Egypt, which alone has received more than half a million Sudanese.
